The Interview
Hyun Woo (H): Well, let's start off with the interview right away!

H: [Theme 2: Place] Typically, on the streets, which age group do you see the most?

Ryan (R): I see people who are about 20-25 years old, but I'm not exactly sure.

H: [Theme 3: Human and Environmental Interaction] Have you ever experienced a lack of materials that are plentiful in the United States? If so, what was the experience like?

R: I've come across the lack of clean water at times. The water is pretty clean, but if you live in the U.S. for a while, then you have to boil water in Ghana before you drink it. But I can only say that the water is clean in the rich parts of Ghana as I've lived in a wealthy part of the country. It's because even if you're poor in the United States, if you change the money into Ghanaian cedis, it's worth a lot more in Ghana.

H: [Theme 4: Movement] I see that you have moved to the United States for access to superior education. Were there any other reasons, such as violence, that pulled you to the United States?

R: No, no violence, because Ghana is a very peaceful country. My parents wanted a better education for me and my siblings, but they also argued that the Ghanaian system might be better than the U.S. system for education.

H: [Theme 5: Region} Ghana has a pretty high rate of AIDS infections. How do you feel about this issue?

R: To be honest, I didn't really know a lot of people with AIDS, and for me personally, AIDS doesn't really change my view of the person. But I do think that those people with AIDS definitely need help of some sort.

H: Thank you very much, Ryan, for your cooperation. I hope to contact you again sometime soon!

If you wish to contact Ryan, you can also reach him through me as that may be the fastest way.
